Kimberly 
Background:
Kimberly is 55 years old and married. She was diagnosed with cancer of the neck and head soon after she and her husband started their own business. They do have health insurance. Unfortunately, due to the severity of her illness, they soon were bumping up against the limits of their coverage. Their business, being dependent on their active participation, is not bringing in any money and they are rapidly spending down what they have saved over the years. They have always lived frugally, but this situation has depleted savings and their retirement IRAs have been tapped and are almost gone.
We found that much of Kimberly's outpatient services, including chemotherapy, was not covered by her medical plan.
The Margaret Rose Kennedy Foundation has given a grant to Kimberly towards her non-reimbursed chemotherapy expenses.
